Especially given the increase in mobile devices and IoT-connected devices these days, this is a popular option. According to Spiceworks, 32% of all IT offices will have adopted edge computing by 2020.
2. Serverless computing: Setting up servers for your company’s data can be pricy, inflexible, and take up too much space. Going serverless means you can invest in event-based services that allow you to scale up or scale down your cloud use as your circumstances change. This way, you’re only calling upon cloud services when you really need them, and no resources go to waste. Serverless computing is expected to catch on with 35% of companies by 2020, per Spiceworks.
3. Containers: Running a cloud-based application is complicated and requires a wide range of elements – settings, libraries, allocated computing resources, and so on. Containers represent an easy way to package together everything you need to ensure your employees’ cloud use runs smoothly. They’re lightweight, portable, affordable, and sure to keep your workforce achieving at a high level. By next year, 38% of companies should be on board with this trend.

Clearly, a lot of companies are thinking about the cloud in 2020 – and not just about getting there in the first place. They’re making plans to explore the technology far more deeply and achieve much more with it than ever before.
