In Houston, Zones partnered with Cisco to deploy Cisco Smart+Connected Real Estate Solutions to converge building, safety, and communications networks onto the open Internet Protocol (IP) standard at Pennzoil Place. This streamlined processes throughout the 1,400,000 square foot Phillip Johnson/John Burgee-designed complex by providing a single connection for building management and IT systems.

Zones, a Cisco Gold Certified Partner, was engaged by Transwestern and Metropolis Investment Holdings to connect every one of the 95,000 building points and systems at Pennzoil Place to a Cisco fiber-optic network. The network now connects every endpoint and application in the building, including Cisco solutions for unified communications and collaboration, video surveillance, physical access control, digital signage, and high-definition videoconferencing.

This converged network now forms the foundation for an intelligent building infrastructure that adds value to Pennzoil Place – as it could for commercial real estate projects of virtually any scope. Such convergence acts as a disrupting agent in traditional site and building designs, uses, and operations, with the capability to transform physical space into service offerings.
